Working principle of electrolytic water hydrogen production test bench
 
The working principle of the electrolytic water hydrogen production test bench is to separate hydrogen and oxygen using the reaction of electrolytic water. When water is placed in the electrolytic water test bench, the chemical bonds of water molecules are disconnected through the power-up process, and the water is decomposed into hydrogen and oxygen. Collecting hydrogen and oxygen separately can test the decomposition efficiency of water and the yield of hydrogen.
Specifically, when direct current acts on the electrolytic cell, water molecules are oxidized at the anode to generate oxygen and are reduced at the cathode to generate hydrogen. This process can be expressed as the following two electrode reactions:
 
Anode reaction (oxidation):
 
2H2O→O2↑+4H++4e-
 
Cathode reaction (reduction):
 
2H++2e-→H2↑
 
During PEM electrolysis of water, protons (H+) are transferred from the anode to the cathode through the proton exchange membrane, thereby facilitating the entire process of decomposing water. AEM electrolytic water relies on a cation exchange membrane to transport cations (such as Na+ or K+) and generate hydrogen at the cathode.
 
The PEM/AEM electrolytic water test bench generally contains the following key components:
 
1. Electrolytic cell: It contains the two poles of the Yin and Yang, as well as the middle proton exchange membrane or cation exchange membrane.
 
2. Power supply: Provide the necessary DC voltage to drive the electrolysis process.
 
3. Potentiostat: used to control and adjust the voltage across the electrolytic cell to maintain the required potential.
 
4. Sensor: Monitor temperature, pressure, flow, voltage, current and other parameters in real time.
 
5. Data acquisition system: collects sensor data, used to analyze and record the performance of the electrolysis process.
